RON POTTER and VILMA BLENMAN
VILMA BLENMAN
Vilma Blenman is a teacher, counsellor, writer, and spoken word performer whose words are finally taking off and finding landings. Born and raised in a lush Jamaican landscape, she first discovered poetry in the sound of hummingbirds’ wings, then later in the blue-green hues of a Muskoka morning. She believes poetry pops up and sprouts from every crevice of our lives, and landscape.
Vilma, her husband, and her two poetry-inspiring children live in Pickering, Ontario.
First Flight is an eclectic collection of poetry drawn from observations of interior and exterior landscapes and musings on the act of writing. From first stirrings in the womb to first breath outside, first steps, first kiss, first loss, first thought in morning light… may all the first flights in your life be memorable.
RON POTTER
Ron’s first poem was for his wife. It was about a lily pad and a pond and resilience and beauty. Thirty years later he took a workshop with James Dewar. In the interim he became a husband, father, grandfather and an equestrian. He was published through that workshop in a book of poems called Tuesday’s Children. Then he read Walt Whitman and found out self publishing was an honorable thing. Hence this chapbook.
