Mike Lipsius grew up in Ennismore, Ontario.
He has been a popular poet on the Toronto poetry scene since 2006 and has been a featured reader at Plasticine Poetry, The Art Bar, Cryptic Chatter, Livewords, Word Jam, Back Burner Productions festival series and The Beautiful and the Damned. He has also competed in the Toronto Poetry Slam.
He has been producing and hosting the Rochdale Rhymes and Readings monthly poetry reading series since 2008, with occasional breaks to concentrate on his own work.
His poetry has been published in Misunderstandings Magazine, Chrysalis, NÅD and the Palabras Press anthologies.
Trained as a journalist, his ability to observe small details reverberates through the heart of his poetry.
Mike Lipsius captivates with his quirky, creative, vulnerable yet powerful poetry. Again and again, he finds lovely gems in the centre of the chaos and holds them up to the light with honesty and humour.

Mike Lipsius’ poetry reads with a sullen, quiet camaraderie. It extracts the eloquence of casual happenstance, showing a fierce potency in being blunt and frank, while creating an elegiac tapestry woven with threads of sensitivity and grace.
