July 18th: Kate Rogers & Suzanna Derewicz
KATE ROGERS
Kate Rogers is a transnational Canadian poet currently dividing her time between Toronto and Hong Kong. Her most recent poetry collection, Foreign Skin, debuted in Toronto with Aeolus House Press in July 2015 and Hong Kong in October 2015.
Kate Rogers is co-editor of the OutLoud Too anthology (MCCM 2014), and the world poetry anthology, Not a Muse: the Inner Lives of Women (Haven 2009).
Her poetry has appeared in, or is forthcoming in The Guardian; Eastlit; Asia Literary Review; Cha: an Asian Literary Journal; Morel; The Goose: a Journal of Arts, Environment and Culture (Wilfred Laurier University); Mind Shadows (anthology of The Ontario Poetry Society); Kyoto Journal; ASIATIC: the Journal of the Islamic University of Malaysia; Orbis International; Contemporary Verse II; Dream Catcher 23: the Canadian Issue; Dimsum, and the Red Claw Press anthologies Seek it and Crave it.
Kate moderated the panel “Poetry and the World” at the George Town Literary Festival in Penang, Malaysia, in November 2015. In October 2015 she participated in the panel, “The Multi-lingual Classroom” at the Asia Pacific Writers and Translators’ conference in Manila, the Philippines.
Kate Rogers lectures in literature and media studies at the Community College of City University in Hong Kong. Kate is a member of the League of Canadian Poets and at work on a web site to showcase her poetry.
SUZANNA DEREWICZ
Suzanna Derewicz is poet, playwright, and arts administrator based in Toronto. She has recently been featured at In The Soil, EW Reading Series, Sawdust Reading Series and The Underdog Poets’ Academy.
She has been published in nationalpoetrymonth.ca, In/Words Magazine, (parenthetical), untethered, and The Quilliad.
Her debut chapbook Maggie Monologues will be released in Fall 2016 by words(on)pages press.
