March 21st: TOpoet.ca and Brenda Clews
Hot-Sauced Words POETRY is COMMUNITY is thrilled to feature TWO prominent Toronto poets this month:
TOpoet.ca
TOpoet.ca fills the gap between form and content where it strives to give an objective presence to imaginary constructions of bourgeois or radical psychology.
It embraces the realm of the ‘superficial’ as a refusal of ‘substance,’ which is culturally inscribed in heteronormative terms.
It has hit stages from Sydney, Nova Scotia to San Francisco, California – in Toronto it has performed at Word on the Street, Pride, Queer West Fest & recently Capturing Fire 2016 in Washington DC.
TOpoet.ca blog is read around the world.
Brenda Clews
Brenda Clews is a multi-media poet, artist and videopoet whose approach broaches poetry, painting, theory, dance, recordings and video. Poem fragments are written into paintings. Or a painting evokes a poem that is later written into it.
She may dance a poem while wearing a mask which has emerged from a painting. She is a multi-media artist whose approach to a topic includes poetry, painting, theory, dance, recordings, and video. Her oeuvre focuses on multiple callings, the obsessive muse.
Brenda has had solo art shows at York University, Q Space and Urban Gallery and she has been in many group art shows.
She has been published in a number of literary journals over the years. She has a chapbook, ‘the luminist poems,’ (LyricalMyrical Press, 2013) and a book of poetry, ‘Tidal Fury,’ (Guernica Editions, 2016), and a forthcoming novella, ‘Fugue in Green’ (Quattro Books, Fall 2017).
